In the Western part of Maharashtra, there is a district known as Satara. The area is nearly around 10484 square kilometers. It is surrounded by Solapur, Ratnagiri, Pune, and Sangli.

KAAS PLATEAU

Kaas Plateau is situated 24 kilometers from Satara. Kaas Plateau is also known as Kas Pathar. Kaas Plateau is also known Plateau of flowers. Kaas is derived from Kaasa tree. This place is known for its beauty in monsoon season. It is also a picnic spot. The biodiversity in this region is distinctive. The specialty of this place is its biosphere, high hill plateaus, and grasslands. We can also find Kaas lake towards the south of the Plateau. It opens from 9 is to 6 pm and each ticket costs around Rs. 50 per Person on Weekdays, Rs. 100 per Person on Weekends & Public Holidays.  It is advised to go from August to October.

THOSEGHAR FALLS

Thoseghar falls situated 26 kilometers from Satara at Thoseghar village. It ranks one of the best waterfalls in Maharashtra and also known as one of the giant waterfalls in India. The height of the waterfall is around 500m. One can enjoy the peace and the freshness of the waterfalls. It is the best place for nature lovers.  It opens from 8 is to 5 pm. It is advised to go from July to October.

AJINKYATARA FORT

Ajinkyatara fort is located 4 kilometers from Satara Bus Stand. It is also known as Fort of the Saptarishi. Ajinkyatara fort is one of the ancient hill fort positioned on the seven mountains surrounding the city. It is one among the major historical places of Maharashtra. It is located at an altitude of 3,300 feet. It is also known for hiking, trekking, and mountaineering. Tourists can visit nearby temples such as  Devi Mangala, Lord Shankar, and Lord Hanuman. It is advised to go from November to February.

PANCHGANI

Panchgani is located 48 kilometers from Satara which is a famous hill station.It is located at an altitude of 1,334 m. It is surrounded by Wai, Bavdhan and Nagewadi dam in the eastern region of Panchgani, Gureghar in the western part, Rajpuri and Dhom Dam in southern and northern region respectively. Panchgani is known for sightseeing. Panchgani has many tourist spots like Table Land, Parsi Point, Kamalgad Fort, Rajpuri Caves, Sydney Point, Mapro Gardens, Dhom dam. It is advised to go from September to February.

VASOTA FORT

Vasota Fort is located 56 kilometers from the banks of Shiv Sagar Lake from Satara. It is located at an altitude of 1,772 m very close to Bamnoli. It is surrounded by deep forests and Koyna wildlife sanctuary. Vasota Fort is of traditional architectural style. This place is known for trekking, mountaineering, and rock climbing. It is closed from July to October.
